|Cardinal Tobin: Synodality challenges pragmatism with a patience that is based on hope|
|My dear sisters and brothers in Christ,Last month I was invited to give a talk at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, on the topic of “Pope Francis and the Journey of Synodality.” I hope that by the grace of the Holy Spirit, I have been faithful to the Holy Father’s vision and to the concept of synodality, which is so important to our understanding of the mission that has been entrusted to us as Spirit-filled evangelizers of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pope Francis tells us in no uncertain terms that every one of us—no matter who we are—is welcome to walk with Jesus even if we don’t feel valued, understood or respected. We are all invited to listen, to meet, to dialogue, to pray and to discern God’s Will for us, the Church. Let us open ourselves to this synodal path with the grace of the Holy Spirit.|
